I don't remember when I didn't know Joel. Although we weren't by any means close friends, we did have a cordial relationship dating back to Vernor days. For a time in the 1970's and early 80's he was a neighbor. We would run into each other from time to time.  He was always pleasant, and I can honestly say I never heard him say a bad word about anyone. Can't say that about too many people. My condolences to his family. And thanks, Jill, for posting this or I wouldn't have known.

Joel was full of mischief at Vernor. Always pulling my ponytail in library and making sure it looked like my fault as Ms.. Gordon yelled at me. I saw Joel at the recent reunion and teased him about it. Funny the things we remember. So sorry to hear of his passing. A great fun loving guy!

Joel was a great fun loving guy. I knew him from Mumford where we met at class. Billy Elson, Joel and I had a great time together! I will miss them both!

Leonard Woolf (1964)

It was 1965 and I was rooming with Steven Mehler and David Kossloff at Michigan State. Steven's sister Joyce and Joel were an item. There was one particular evening, after an all day session of "risk" and an all night drinking binge, where I recall the room was spinning, and my stomach churning. My good buddy Joel saved my life by putting us in the shower, fully clothed, and getting me sober. You were allright good buddy, and definately the life of the party. Rest in piece.   Lennie Woolf.....

I am very sad to hear of Joel's passing. He was a real character and was one of my best friends in elementary and high school. I'll always have very fond memories.
