Elliot was true example of the gentle soul. We were close friends at Camp Hiawatha as kids, where we held the record of catching the most turtles while paddling a canoe. He in the bow, me in the stern. We would spot one of those critters, glide silently toward it, Elliot's arms stretched so that his hands dragged through the water, and in a flash, he would have scooped it up and into the boat. We caught 28 in one day, 23 painted turtles, 4 Yellow neck Blanding turtles and, one snapping turtle. Later in life after high school, we joined a bowling team. One night we were driving there on a cold January night and we saw a kitten get hit by a car on the other side of the street. To hell with bowling he said, and we jumped out of the car and Elliot picked up the wounded beast, wrapped it in his coat and we got back in the car and drove right to GASOW clinic. They saved the cat and I had it as a pet for 18 years. Although Elliot moved away soon after, he always called to check on that cat. Never will forget that guy.

He was a terrifc artist who specialized in wood working. I had a piranha for 25 years and Elliot made a wood carving of it which I have to this day.

I briefly got in touch with one of his brothers shortly after his passing. Mike. His youngest brother, Bruce was my first cousins best friend at camp.
