Stuart Opperer (1965)

Ken lived two doors away and was my best childhood friend.  We lost touch (after Mumford), but reconnected a few years later (while we were both in college). He was in my wedding party and we kept in touch (during the next few years. Ken became amechanical engineer and worked for a Detroit firm (he specialized in heating and ventilation systems, in buildings.  I believe he was crawling around (in some secret defense system building duct work) and contracted hepatitis.  Ken was also battling another, chronic issue. He passed away (around 1975, shortly, before my son was born). I remember Ken being shy and tense (while I was hyper and immature). Seems like we were both, a strange, odd couple, but he was a loyal friend. I still think of  him often and wish (that his life would have been more gentle); but life just is. We must pluck good times, friendships, blessings, and memories (where and whenever we can).  Ken was all of these.
