Just learned of the passing of Mr. Shelby from his daughter, he was 93 when he died and according to his daughter he continued his great interest in music and relayed fond memories of his time at Mumford!

* Mr Jack Shelby (genius extraordinaire) gave so much of his many wonderfully creative talents to everyone at Mumford High School.  I had the enriching and nourishing experience of co-teaching with Jack (he in music; I in theater) at MHS from September 1964 to June 1967 -- and one of the highlights (for me) of that blessed era occurred when he and I co-directed Mumford's stage production of THE MUSIC MAN in January 1967.  Such a stellar and magical time! * Alas, Jack and I gradually lost contact over the years, but I shall always remember (and honor) him as One of the Greats in Music, Education, and Friendship. * Indeed, my deepest condolences to all his family, and to all his many (and admiring) students.... * Sincerely, Jim Gilchrist (aka Mr G) *
