Iris worked on the same staff (at Mich Dept of Social Services, about 1990). She was a services worker and quite funny.  She got married and lived in West Bloomfield, Mi; then moved down to Florida. Unfortunately, Iris developed a disase and died a few years later.  Although I didn't have the pleasure ( of being a close friend), she did herself and Mumford proud.  I don't believe Iris had any children, but she was a joy.

One day while wandering around Amsterdam in somewhat of a  haze (maybe '69 or '70), I ran into Iris.   She had a big grin on her face and told me she was living in an old VW bus in a camping spot in the heart of the city. It was a very Hippie scene there with lots of music and laughter in the air.  Iris was always very comfortable in any situation.

There was an oil painting of Iris and her family, above the mantle, in her home on Outer Drive.  Iris told me her Father had it painted when she was 7.  In the painting Iris is sitting cross-legged with a big grin on her face, her impishness beaming out.

That was the Iris I knew.  Always smiling and always impish.
