Jacqueline Louise Capers married Joe C. Sams after graduation. She attended Lewis College of Business and was employed by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission in Detroit. Jacqueline had two daughters, Lisa and Kimberly. She poured her energy and love into raising them and always stressed the importance of education to them; Lisa and Kimberly both earned graduate degrees in education. Sometimes through tears, but more often with laughter, Lisa, a retired Detroit Public Schools principal, keeps her mother’s memory alive by telling her three daughters, grandson, and granddaughter stories about Jacqueline’s warmth, creativity, humor, big heart and kind, giving spirit so that she remains as real to them as she is in the hearts and minds of those whom she loved, and to her family and daughters who love her still -- always and forever.
