Betty was a very sweet, quiet and soft-spoken young lady. Her death was a shock because she was so young. I don't remember the year, but it was within a year or two after we graduated.
Betty and I attended G.W. Carver Elementary School and lived only a few blocks away from each other when we attended Mumford. Needless to say we always looked out for one another. We either took the bus from school together or walked home (depending on our class schedules). Betty's locker was on the first floor and mine was on the third floor and we would always use each other's lockers. After all these years, I still miss Betty, she was a good friend and a good person. She married and had one daughter.

I remember Betty but not with specific memories. I think maybe we might of sat near each other in the classes in which we sat alphabetically.
