My one particular memory of Sue Ann goes back to elementary school days. She and I took science from Mr. Dowd. I have always had a great interest in astronomy, as most of you know. We had an astronomy section in Mr. Dowd's class. On all of those tests, I never missed a question. On the final, I scored 104%, answering the extra credit question along with the rest of the questions. Sue Ann also scored 104%. I never forgave her for that! She was one smart lady.

Sue and I grew up together, as our parents were close friends.  We played tennis at Palmer Park, and enjoyed riding our bikes.  I remember Sue as being kind, inclusive, enthusiastice, and competitive.  She "gave her all" to everything she did.  Both of us were idealistic and politically liberal.  She chose to leave her family base, and so did I,along with my husband, Don.  We started our married life together serving as VISTA Volunteers in an inner city, and at some point , Sue became a VISTA recruiter along with other interesting and idealistic pursuits.  So there were some parallels.  I regret not staying in contact with her as the years went by.
