Susan DeGracia (1965)

It's taken me a while to post anything about Susie's passing as it was, and is, difficult to find the right words. Susie and I were friends since the ninth grade at Post Junior High and we maintained that friendship throughout the years even though we lived miles apart as adults. No matter how much time passed between speaking to or seeing each other, we could pick up right where we left off, as if no time had passed at all. We shared so much history together and I treasure each memory. Susie was a kind and caring individual, generous and loving, smart, with a great sense of humor. She was a devoted wife and wonderful mother, and she loved her two grandchildren with a passion. I am saddened that she will not get to see them grow up. For now, though, I have that privilege. Through the window of social media I get to watch over her daughter and her daughter's family, and to vicariously participate in their lives. I see Susie when I look at her daughter, through her smile, a turn of her head, or when I look at her two beautiful grandchildren. For this I am grateful. For Susie's friendship, I am grateful. For knowing Susie and having her be a part of my life, I am honored. Rest in Peace, Susie. I miss you, but I will not forget you.
