So very sad to hea about Mark's passing.  He was warm, funny, and an inspiration to me as a journalist not just at Mumford, but also at UM where he was the editor-n-chief of the Michigan Daily.

So sorry to hear of Mark's passing.  I have fond memories sharing good times in classes with him. He was friendly, intelligent, and interested in current affairs.  I remember working on the  mock election with him and others.  Very sad.

Entering Mumford in the 9 th grade as a S & A  student from another district, I knew no one in the school.  Mark was one of the first to help to make me feel welcome and to become a friend.  My condolences to his family.

Mark's passing is terribly sad. I vividly remember his laugh, which was infectious and heartfelt. Mark was my guiding light in politics, both at Mumford and in the wider world.  He was the president of Mumford's Current Affairs club and I was the co-chair of publicity (with Larry Deitch).  There's a photo of us together with Roy Jacobstein and others in the 1965 Capri yearbook. I treasure that. 1964 was, of course, a big election year and Mumford's mock Republican convention was a huge event.  It made the Detroit newspapers.  Outside of Mumford, Mark helped to garner the suppport of the local Democratic party and our mentor, Maryann Mahaffey, at the UAW to fund our own office and organization, High School Students for Johnson & Humphrey.  Our storefront office was on 7 Mile Road.  We actually went door-to-door canvassing for votes with our own campaign literature on our letterhead.  It launched me on a life-long journey of progressive political activism.  Thank you, Mark, for your inspiration and, relatively rare in the mid-60s, always treating me like an equal.  Your memory is a cherished blessing.
