School Story:

The first time I was allowed to drive my parents car to school I was running late so I tried to park in the teachers parking lot. Unfortunately, I got caught and sent home. Two of my neighbors were with me so we decided to go up to Eastern Michigan University to visit one of their brothers who attended school there.

Comments:

I attended art school in Oakland, CA for two years and fashion design school in Chicago, IL for one year. I married Melvin Riggs; had two sons and we moved to Durham, NC. I went back to school and received a BA from North Carolina Central University, Durham, NC and a Masters in Design from North Carolina State University, Raleigh, NC. Melvin and I divorced and I moved to East Point, GA with my two sons where we lived for two years until I remarried Henry DeGeneste, and moved to Maplewood, NJ. After we divorced I purchased a home in East Orange, NJ where I lived until I retired in 2014. In 2015, I moved to Durham, NC to be close to my two sons and grandkids. I have served as an administrator for a non-profit arts organization, The Carter G. Woodson Foundation; taught Commercial Art and Design at The College of NJ, Ewing, NJ; taught Commercial Art in Jersey City, NJ, and served as an administrator in the Newark Public Schools working as a School Management Facilitator, Title I Supervisor, Career and Technical Education (CTE) Supervisor and CTE Senior Manager until I retired in 2014. I relocated to Durham, NC in 2015. Note new address is:
